Hello, dear colleagues,
I’m Dr. Ray Makar, a physician and USMLE teacher. I graduated from medical school in 1982 and practiced as a dermatologist for 20 years in Egypt. After moving to the United States in 2003, I prepared for and passed the USMLE as a foreign medical graduate, and I have spent more than 20 years since then working in US patient care.
So I know the exam from both sides: as a doctor who has seen these diseases in real patients, and as an international graduate who had to learn the American way of testing them.
Why this website
Medical-usmle.com is for medical students and international medical graduates preparing for USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 CK. Here you’ll find:
- High-yield practice questions covering all basic and clinical sciences
- A clear explanation for every answer: why the right one is right, and why the others are wrong
- Repeated, frequently tested concepts that show up on the boards again and again
Why questions work
Working through questions and reading their explanations is one of the best ways to remember what you’ve studied. It doesn’t replace your textbooks, but it shows you how a concept gets tested, and that’s what earns points on exam day.
A note on accuracy
Every question and explanation is written or reviewed by me. The content is for exam preparation only and is not medical advice. If you spot an error, please tell me and I’ll fix it.
